Police Scotland officers in the Highlands seek video footage and witnesses following fatal gyrocopter crash on the Black Isle near Avoch; man, who died at the scene, had flown from the Inverness area before the crash
WITNESSES and video footage are being sought following a fatal gyrocopter crash on the Black Isle.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or the gyrocopter before it crashed in a field near Avoch on Thursday afternoon.
A 67-year-old man, who has not been named, died at the scene following the crash at around 12.55pm.
Police said the aircraft had been flown from Inverness before the incident.
Detective Inspector Brian Geddes of Police Scotland said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who sadly lost his life, and we will have officers providing support at this difficult time.
“Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing. We have already spoken to a number of people who witnessed the crash, however, we are appealing to anyone we haven’t spoken to, to get in touch.
“I would also urge anyone who might also have images or video footage of the gyrocopter in the air or during the incident to please contact police either via 101, quoting incident number 1385 of November 12, or via the online portal set up for this incident.”
Detectives have set up an online portal here to encourage members of the public to submit information.
The Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) is a website that gives the public access to a form so they can send information directly to the major incident teams based at the Scottish Crime Campus.
