A WITNESS appeal has gone out after an Easter Ross accident resulted in the death of a teenage boy and left two other people in hospital.

Police said a 16-year-old boy had died as a result of the accident last night on the B9176, also known as the Struie road.

A 15-year-old girl is in hospital in a "critical condition" while a 39-year-old man, who was driving the car, is also still in hospital.

A 22-year-old woman, who was a front seat passenger, was also taken to hospital but has since been released.

The accident, which involved a blue Audi RS4, happened at around 9.35pm last night.

Police said the car had been travelling west on the B817.

The car then turned right onto the B9176 "when it appears to have lost control" and hit a wall at the junction of Fyrish Substation.

Police said emergency services attended and the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the road was closed for several hours as collision investigators examined the scene.

Sergeant David Miller said: “We are appealing to any other road users who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us, did you see blue Audi, did you pass it on the road? Any small piece of information could be vital in our enquiries.

"In particular, we would ask motorists with dash cams to check their footage as they could have captured an image which could assist us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4030 of 27 March, 2021.
