A QUEUE for Burger King in Elgin had to be dispersed by police today after causing a traffic jam.

The scheduled re-opening of the drive-through at the town's Burger King caused huge queues in Ashgrove Road.

It comes as the chain's Inverness outlet prepares to reopen on Monday.

Police were called to the fast food restaurant just after midday as the store remained closed past its scheduled re-opening time of noon.

A police spokesperson said: "Police attended after large amounts of traffic (gathered). The store closed and traffic dispersed."

The drive-through is now open with no queues. The store, which has been shut for weeks due to the coronavirus lockdown, is offering a limited menu and is not accepting cash payments.

Burger King has been contacted for comment.
