What was the difference between Lib Dem and SNP vote in Inverness area? We’re set to find out today
While a lot of other predictions for the general election came true, few would have scripted what happened in Dingwall.
Will it be 3rd time lucky for those counting the votes for the new Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire seat? Let’s hope so!
SNP candidate Drew Hendry - who has been the MP for Inverness since 2015 - has already conceded defeat and Lib Dem candidate Angus MacDonald, who is a Highland councillor for Fort William and Ardnamurchan, is most likely to be named the winner today.

• PICTURES: How the count chaos night unfolded as political rivals were forced to accept a recount
After polling day on Thursday and a count in Dingwall overnight into Friday morning it was followed by another recount prior to the whole thing being abandoned - set to reconvene today at 10.30am for yet another recount.
The turnout was 48,221 which is 61.88 per cent of the electorate.
Returning officer Derek Brown - his first general election as Highland Council chief executive - said it was due to some numbers not tallying up as they should.
“During the formal checking of the totals for the Inverness, Skye, and West Ross-shire constituency count a discrepancy was identified between the verified votes total and the provisional number of counted votes,” he said.
“An accountancy check was carried out along with a visual check that did not resolve the discrepancy.
“A recount was then implemented to reconcile the difference between the totals.
“Following the recount, as returning officer, I have advised candidates and agents that I am unable to declare a result, therefore another recount will take place [this] morning at 10.30am.
“Candidates and agents have been informed at each stage of the count.”
