A rare bottle of whisky will be auctioned to raise funds for Highland Hospice.
The very special bottle of Glen Grant 1966, which was a Queen’s Award celebration bottling, was donated by Elgin-based distillers Gordon and MacPhail.
It was given to the hospice by Stephen Rankin, who is the director of prestige for Gordon and MacPhail.
In addition, there will be an exclusive tasting of unique and rare single malt scotch whiskies for six people at the Elgin distillery on offer.
Andrew Leaver, the hospice’s head of fundraising, said: “We cannot express our gratitude enough to Stephen and all at Gordon and MacPhail for this extremely kind gesture.
“It really is a fantastic lot which we expect may raise around £4000 to £5000 for the hospice.
“In over 30 years of caring, the coronavirus has been one of the greatest challenges our hospice has ever faced. We always strive to ensure our care, support and expertise reach those who need us most.
“During this time we have had to look at innovative ways to deliver our services and introduce new activities to meet the needs of our patients and their families at this difficult time.
“Following the cancellation of all our fundraising events, we have a huge funding gap to bridge. The Scottish whisky sector has been another one of the hardest hit sectors throughout this pandemic – so through this auction we will work together with distilleries to invest in the long term future of hospice services as well as promoting our world famous Scottish whisky industry.
“The support of Gordon and MacPhail is greatly welcomed at this difficult time.”
The auctions will be online, with Whisky Auctioneer Ltd from Friday, November 20, and at Fraser’s Auction Room, Dingwall Mart, on Friday, November 27.
