OVER the last few months, local community groups have been invited to nominate themselves for support, and voting is now open to the public.

The two community groups nominated for help are South Kessock Residents Association and the Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre.

The winning team will receive advice, products and support from their local Dobbies team, with an emphasis on using sustainable products wherever possible.

The South Kessock group is trying to help anyone in the community to grow their own food, and Dobbies support would allow them to provide resources that can enable their project.

The Childcare Centre is a community run charity that provides learning and care to people ages 3-14 years old.

The prize would help them allow children to get involved in gardening.

Dobbies’ chief executive Graeme Jenkins, said: “Helping Your Community Grow is a really popular initiative in Inverness and we’ve seen a great response from community groups and projects looking to make a difference to their local area.

“Now the community voting gets under way and we’re looking forward to seeing which projects receive our support.”

Voting remains open until May 16.
