Inverness hair salon The Head Gardener to host official launch of ‘Calendar Girls’ fun ‘perfect Christmas gift’ to aid Highland Hospice
If you’re looking for a cheeky stocking filler or the perfect Secret Santa gift, this could be it - and you can help a worthy cause at the same time.
That’s because a group of ladies who are living with life-limiting illness who completed a ‘Calendar Girls’ photoshoot are officially releasing the product this Sunday.
The six ladies - Robyn Hammond, Tracey Lyon, Karen Watson, Kathreen Hunter, Sarah Warner and Helen Mulgrew - attend a weekly group therapy session in Highland Hospice’s rehabilitation and wellbeing department.
They decided to do the fun calendar to help generate money for the hospice - and with the motive of highlighting positive body image.
Staff at the hospice rallied to enable their dream to become a reality - only made possible down to the generosity of big-hearted Inverness businesswoman Alison McRitchie, who is sponsoring the calendar’s photography and printing costs.

Alison, owner of the city’s The Head Gardener, is hosting the official launch with a mixer event at the hair salon from 1pm-3pm this Sunday.
The calendars are £10 each and all the profits will be donated to the hospice.
The photoshoot took place in Ness Walk Hotel, photographed by Alison White with hair done by The Head Gardener and make-up by Laura Williamson of the city’s Angel Beauty Salon. The calendars will be available to purchase in The Head Gardener, Willow & Blue and Rebel Row as well as being stocked by some of the hospice’s retail outlets including its headquarters and cafes.
Hospice fundraiser Emma Nicol said: “We are so proud of our Woman's Group who have come together in support of this 'Calendar Girls' project for Highland Hospice, as well as ticking off a bucket list experience the ladies wanted to raise funds in appreciation of the support they receive through the group.
“We can't thank this group of inspirational women enough and would encourage people to pop along on Sunday and pick up a copy, which would make the perfect Christmas gift.”
