WATCH: The Proclaimers back Highland man walking 500 mile Camino de Santiago for St Clements School
The Proclaimers have sent a short video message of support to a Dingwall man walking 500 miles in support of St Clements special school.
David Campbell revealed earlier this week when he was on day three of the Camino de Santiago trek that the brothers had sent him their best wishes for the good cause.
He is aiming to raise £4000 through a Just Giving page to support the school in buying specialist play equipment for some of the most vulnerable pupils in the Highlands.
After the first two hard-going days, the message from the Proclaimers provided a very welcome boost to Mr Campbell, who said: “It's fantastic that even though they are worldwide famous they still took the time out of their busy schedule to do this.”
Speaking on day three of the trek, he added that it has been an affecting journey so far due not just to the tough terrain but also the people he has met.
He said: “The first two days from St Jean Pied de Port to Roncesvalles and Roncesvalles to Zubiri were two tough days. Then Zubiri to Pamplona today. What a fantastic adventure.
“I have met so many nationalities all with their own reasons for doing the Camino. I met many people on a sad adventure, one lady with terminal cancer, another lost her young son: heart-breaking, very sad indeed.
“So even though l am raising money for a fantastic charity, l have been humbled doing this trek.”
St Clements accommodates some of the most vulnerable pupils in the Highlands with some of the most advanced additional support needs.
