VIDEO footage has been released showcasing what the new section of the A9 dual carriageway will look like once finished.

The 'fly-through' showcases where the various new junctions and flyovers will be located, as well as the road layouts leading in and out of them.

Once completed, the £115 million project will have created six additional miles of dual carriageway between Tomatin and Moy - ensuring that 20 miles of continuous dual carriageway will be in place between Inverness and the Slochd Summit.

News that this section will be the next to be tackled has been welcomed by local politicians.

Inverness and Nairn MSP Fergus Ewing said: “This announcement follows lengthy consultation and discussion.

"Of course as MSP I will await responses from constituents especially some who maybe directly impacted and some whom I have worked with in the course of the consultation phase.

"But this is good news that more progress is made to the full dualling of the A9.”

Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey MP Drew Hendry added: "Great to see this".

Work is expected to start on the project next year.
