Parts of the ceiling have been falling onto some of the aisles at Tesco Inshes in Inverness.

Footage has appeared on social media showing some of the destruction with water dripping through the gaps.

It happened as a thunderstorm arrived in Inverness this afternoon, causing flash floods in some roads, paths and gardens.

There had been a weather warning following warm temperatures in recent days.

A shopper at Tesco Inshes said: "It was insane. You could hear the rain and then there was some water dripping from the ceiling. When the tiles started to crash down, people went straight to the exit. I'm not sure how many fell but they were in several areas of the shop."

It is not known if anyone has been hurt.

Footage of similar water-related damage at Vue cinema in Inverness has also emerged on social media this afternoon.
