INTERNET sensation Noel Hopkins has received a prestigious YouTube accolade after surpassing 100,000 subscribers on the platform – and he’s only seven years old.

You may remember him from five years ago when he attracted global attention for blaming Batman for mysterious lipstick smears on a bedroom mirror.

Other popular clips included him naming a series of dinosaurs.

With more than 25 million views online, Noel appeared on American TV and on This Morning on ITV. The number of subscribers has been growing ever since.

He has now been sent a Silver Playbutton Award for hitting the 100,000 milestone.

Noel’s mother Laura said: “For a little boy from the Highlands, getting to this point is quite amazing, and just from a few home videos. They know who he is all over the world, even in America, and I still get emails quite regularly asking how he is – it’s quite unbelievable!

“I didn’t really know about this award and Noel’s channel actually hit this target two years ago, but then we stopped posting for a while and in order to receive the award you have to run an active page.”

Noel’s passion for taekwondo helped trigger the award. “He decided to share some of his videos, which were posted last month and made the page current again and after that, Youtube contacted him to announce he was due an award,” Laura (37) explained.

“It is real exciting – it’s got his name engraved on it so that’s something to keep forever.”

She admits she did not expect the channel to be so popular and accepts many of the subscribers were hooked by the first Batman video, but she kept uploading videos mainly for Noel’s father Paul, who works offshore.

“We didn’t really know much about the award until we Googled it and realised it’s quite a big deal for YouTubers,” Paul said.

“Noel has done really well for someone so young.”

The award has sparked interest among Noel’s pals at Kinmylies Primary.

“A lot of people come back to me and say that his videos make them smile,” Laura added.

“If they had a bad day, they would go on his channel and that would make their day a bit better.”
