WATCH: Inverness business leaders raise over £39K for Maggie’s Highlands at Jail or Bail
Leading business bosses from across the Highlands have raised over £39,000 so far as they served ‘time’ today to raise funds for cancer support charity Maggie’s .
The Jail or Bail event saw participants ‘locked up’ for a range of ‘crimes’ including “smelly lunches” and “moonlighting for the competition”, until they raised enough money to be released.
All the fundraising ‘inmates’ were ‘locked up’ at a secret location where they were placed ‘behind bars', had mug shots taken and faced a judge to have their ‘bail’ set which varied depending on the crime.
Centre fundraising manager at Maggie’s Highlands, Andrew Benjamin said: “ This has been an incredible fundraising event which has generated an incredible amount of money which is so important for Maggie’s Highlands, no one expected so much from a brand new and exclusive event.
“We are exceptionally grateful for the phenomenal amount of effort and time our fantastic prisoners have given today. The work rate to generate the income has been exceptional, also a huge thank you to everyone who has donated today.”
Business leaders who took part in this unique fundraising event included Yvonne Crook, Marc Gardiner, Jeremy Matte, Ian MacDonald, Abbie Maccahill, Graham Clark, Annabelle Gauntlett and Andrew Still.
While this is Maggie’s first time hosting a Jail or Bail event, it has almost become a legacy fundraising event for the charity as many cities across the UK have gotten involved.
After a unbelievable success, with hundreds of businesses across the Highlands who donated, it’s fair to say that Jail or Bail is sure to return next year.
