Kawala are a indie-folk band from north London who made their debut performance at Belladrum yesterday.

The band consists of members Jim Higson (Lead Vocals), Daniel McCarthy (Guitar, Vocals), Ben Batten (Drums), Reeve Coulson (Bass), and Dan Lee (Guitar) who met while studying in Leeds.

The name, 'Kawala' comes from a Filipino word for loose and unbound, which signifies their creative freedom and also the Filipino heritage shared by numerous band members.

Our reporter Rachel Smart had a chance to speak to Jim and Daniel after their performance yesterday to see why they love Scottish audiences and how they found the Belladrum crowd.
