An Inverness mum,who is in Aberdeen after her "warrior" baby was born at 25 weeks, was joined by an urban fox as she sat in the sunshine.

Jessika Toward (22) shared footage of a rare exchange between herself and the fox as it wanders to where she was sitting with a picnic, before picking up a sandwich wrapper, and then rolling on her blanket.

Ms Toward, who gave birth to baby Freyja on April 9, said she thought the fox was attracted by the smell of milk, and the nature mediation music she was listening to as it approached.

Freyja is named after the Norse warrior God.
During the video, Ms Toward, who lives in the Inshes area, is heard saying "Hello Mr Foxy", before she asks the wild creature to please leave her shoe.

She is also heard making soothing noises before quietly exclaiming: "It is ok, it is ok fox, good fox." As the fox turns and walks away, she says: "Holy shit, bye fox," asking: "Where is my mum?".

Ms Toward said: "I got rushed to Aberdeen on April 9 as I was going into labour early.

"My wee warrior was born at 25 weeks and since then we have been in neonatal intensive care.

"We are going to be here for a few months until my baby girl is ready to come home.
"I was excited to see the fox as they are one of my favourite animals.

"I wasn’t expecting her [the fox] to come so close but I guess she smelled the milk off me too!

"I was listening to a nature meditation before she came to see me so she maybe heard that too and knew I was friendly!"

The young mum continued: "I was a bit worried too she was going to steal my shoe and I’d have to walk back into the hospital with only one shoe."

Ms Toward praised the staff at the hospital for the care of her daughter, she said: "I would like to say a big thank you to the Friends of Neonatal unit here in Aberdeen and the medical team that are looking after Freyja. Thank you to everyone for their support and prayers."
