WATCH: 150,000 bees found living inside a house in Inverness

150,000 bees have been found living inside a house in Inverness, creating a hive of activity.

Andrew Card, owner of Loch Ness Honey Company was given a buzz by the occupiers of the house in Westhill who saw a new swarm appearing over recent weeks.

In the shocking footage, Andrew shows the three different colonies - each with one queen - buzzing in the roof of the bedroom and bathroom of the home.

Speaking about the bees, Andrew said: “There have been three colonies in the house and each colony is headed by one queen.

“The first colony is around six to seven years old and the second colony is about three to four years old. The last colony is about six weeks old.

“It looks like the bees have originally escaped from a beekeeper and set up base in the home.”

The sweet news is, Andrew will now take the bees into their own hives where he will monitor them for parasites.

He said: “We monitor them for six weeks and then next year we’ll use them for honey production.

“If you ever see a swarm get in touch with a local beekeeper as this will ensure that they can be saved!”
