Inverness businesses warned after fake £20 notes used in city centre shops
Businesses in Inverness are being warned to check their cash drawers after counterfeit £20 banknotes were reported to be used in the city centre yesterday (June 3).
Inverness City Centre BID has issued an alert for business owners and employers to remain vigilant after a male teenager was found using the fake notes in different businesses.
A BID spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of counterfeit £20 notes being used yesterday (3rd June) in Inverness City Centre. These were used in different businesses by a young male (around 15-16), where he bought a low value item and received the change.
“Please remain vigilant and report any incidents via Police Scotland by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency. The online portal can also be used to report any incidents.”
