A 20-year-old man from Edinburgh man who was living in Inverness has been ordered to carry out 220 hours of unpaid community work.

Keiran Reid, of Murray Terrace, Inverness, appeared for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday after previously admitting to being in possession of a knife in Kessock Avenue, Inverness on Christmas Eve last year.

He also pleaded guilty to three breaches of a bail condition that meant he was not supposed to be in Inverness between February and March this year.

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said: “He is a vulnerable 20-year-old who has been caught up in a whirlwind of drug taking by getting in with a bad crowd.

“He was sofa surfing because he had no money to take him back to Edinburgh.”

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank also placed Reid under 15 months of social work supervision.
