As storms batter the Highlands a Culloden man captured the moment a trampoline bounced across a busy city road.

Stephen Davies, director and general manager of Culloden House Hotel, spotted the child's garden toy in Barn Church Road.

"This thing came bowling past me then some chap came running along and pulled it into the pavement," he said.

He said the trampoline appeared to bounce off one of the cars but he did not appear to cause any damage to vehicles or other property.

He added: "I am just glad it did not hit my car to be honest."

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for stormy winds and Dornoch and Kessock Bridges on the A9 are currently both closed to high-sided vehicles.

The wind has also caused disruption to CalMac ferry services with all of Tuesday’s Ullapool-Stornoway sailings.

The winds have also seen a section of the A1 closed from the border near Berwick to just outside Dalkeith near the Edinburgh bypass.

Historic attractions have also been forced to close their doors.

In the Highlands, Fort George was one such casualty, while the wider country also saw iconic sites like Iona Abbey and Edinburgh Castle lock down.

The yellow weather warning for high winds remains in force until 9pm.
