A MAJOR refurbishment of the Victorian Market gets underway today, despite businesses fearing it will cause a possible lose of trade in the run up to Christmas.

But Highland Council is adamant it will try to minimise any disruption caused by the £891,000 project, which includes roof repairs.

Work will take up to six months and would have cost the local authority an extra £52,000 if it was delayed.

Funding will come from the Inverness Common Good Fund, which owns the market.
