A WOMAN was taken to Raigmore Hospital after a crash on the A9 this morning.

The crash occurred on the southbound carriageway near Tore at roughly 8.30am.
A car – understood to be a Volvo – left the dual-carriageway and ended up on its wheels in a field.

Commuters who passed the scene thought it struck the central reservation before careering off the road to the left.

No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.

Fire and rescue units from Inverness attended along with police and ambulances, including a fast response paramedic unit.

The road was reduced to one lane for a time.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that one person was stabilised in the car by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel and then removed from the vehicle using the fire service's hydraulic equipment and then treated in the ambulance. The fire service also helped to make the scene safe.

The occupant of the car was then taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but emergency crews said her injuries were not thought to be serious.

There was no-one else in the vehicle.
