Strike action at University of the Highlands and Islands Inverness has been branded "extremely disappointing" by the principal and chief executive Chris O'Neil.
Some teaching staff are striking today (Tues) and tomorrow over a long-running pay dispute across Scotland.
Other colleagues in the EIS-Further Education Lecturers Association (EIS-FELA) trade union have also set out picket lines at further education facilities up and down the country.
Professor O'Neil praised the work of staff and students throughout the pandemic but said he hoped for resolution "as soon as possible".
He said: “The action being taken by members of the EIS-FELA trade union is extremely disappointing, and we will do all we can to support students affected by strike action to minimise disruption. We recognise the outstanding work and commitment shown by staff and students during the pandemic, however, the whole of the public sector is facing significant financial challenges. We are working with colleagues nationally and hope for a resolution to this dispute as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile more pictures of the picket line have appeared online.
