TWO running events and a charity walk have been cancelled or postponed after a group of Travellers set up camp at an Inverness park yesterday.

The group who was seen camping at Torvean Park has now left, however plans have changed for events planned this weekend at the location, with the Inverness Parkrun and the Torvean Junior parkrun being cancelled and a charity walk for Parkison's UK postponed to August.

A spokesperson from Parkinson’s UK: “Our Walk for Parkinson’s event, which was due to take place this weekend in Inverness, will now be held on August 19, 2023.

“Walkers and volunteers have been notified and advised of the new date. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope as many people as possible will join us on the new date in August.”

Other Parkrun events will be running in Aviemore, Alness and Elgin.

There was similar disruption last summer when Travellers arrived at the same location in June 2022.
