Tomnahurich Cemetery Hill blaze in Inverness extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews after just over an hour
Firefighters have successfully extinguished a blaze that broke out on a hill within the largest cemetery in Inverness.
The fire on Tomnahurich Cemetery Hill was first reported at 9:52 pm with two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances attending.

The crews, using hose reel jets, quickly brought the worst of the flames under control, with the stop message to headquarters relayed at 11.06 pm – an hour and a quarter after the blaze was first reported.
The incident came just as an ‘extreme danger’ wildfire warning was issued for the north of Scotland, which will remain in place until Monday, May 12.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “The fire was successfully brought under control and the stop message given at 23:06 hours.
“But the fire crews are still in attendance at the scene to ensure there is no reoccurrence.”
