UPDATE: Police welcome conviction of man guilty of Nairn sex assaults

Police have acknowledged the conviction of "predatory individual" Christiano Ferreira at Inverness Sheriff Court

The 43-year-old was found guilty by a jury of sexually assaulting a number of women in the Nairn area between June 2014 and July 2015.

Detective Inspector Richard Baird said: "Ferreira is a predatory individual who abused a position of responsibility and trust in order to assault these women for his own sexual gratification.

"I would take the opportunity to commend the women involved for coming forward and for their bravery throughout the subsequent legal proceedings.

"Their courage has led directly to Ferreira's conviction today and he will now face the consequences of his actions."

Ferreira is expected to return to court next month for sentencing.
