Police have lifted an earlier cordon which closed off a busy Inverness city centre street.

Officers had blocked Union Street's entrances shortly after 4.30pm on Tuesday following reports for "concern for a man" in a local flat.

However, police have confirmed the man has since been traced "safe and well" and have stood down their cordons at the scene.

In a statement a short time ago, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.40pm on Tuesday, we were called to a report of concern for a man within a flat in Union Street, Inverness.

"Officers attended and the man was traced safe and well.”
