Four men have appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court charged with attempted murder.

Stephen Stewart (50), Peter Drummond (48) and Lee Drummond (18), all from Inverness, appeared alongside Dylan Drummond (24), from Beauly.

All made no plea and were committed for further examination and remanded.

Police Scotland had earlier issued a statement saying four men had been charged over an alleged incident within a property at Orchard Park in Beauly that occurred at around 5.20am on Sunday.

A spokesman said that two people – a man and a woman – suffered serious injuries in the incident, the man’s injuries being considered life threatening.

Detective Inspector Eddie Ross said: “This was a contained incident and our enquiries continue. I would like to thank members of the local community for their continued assistance with our enquiries.”
