UPDATE: Firefighters confirm area is made safe after biomass unit fire at Kiltearn Primary in Evanton





Firefighters have extinguished a fire that prompted an emergency evacuation at an Easter Ross primary school earlier today.

Staff and pupils at Kiltearn Primary in Evanton had to leave the main premises and assembled in the sports hall after reports of a fire in a biomass unit.

Emergency services were soon on the scene, with the school stating that every staff member and pupil was safe and accounted or.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.22pm on Friday, October 11 to reports of a fire in a biomass unit at a school on Drummond Road, Evanton, Dingwall.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a biomass unit located within an external shed.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
