A major city centre street has reopened to traffic more than six hours after a crash involving a vehicle and cycle.

The incident, which occurred at around 9.40am, sparked the closure of Castle Street between High Street and its junction with View Place next to the Castle Tavern. Bridge Street was also closed to through-traffic between Bank Street and Castle Street.

Police and an ambulance were called to the scene, but there was no immediate word as to whether anyone was injured in the crash.

The road remained closed until shortly after 3pm, but reopened soon afterwards.

Police have been approached for details.
