A man and a woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries after being trapped in a car in an accident just north of Drumnadrochit this morning.

An air ambulance and firefighters in two appliances carrying hydraulic cutting equipment attended the two-car crash on the A833 between Kiltarlity and Milton, near Culnakirk.

The alarm was raised at 10.49 am and the road remained closed into the early evening with significant tailbacks of vehicles on either side.

It is not known how long it took fire personnel and paramedics to free the pair, but it is understood they were taken by road to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, with the air ambulance leaving without casualties.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers were called to a report of a two vehicle crash on the A833 near Culnakirk, Drumnadrochit at around 10.45am on Friday 4 February 2022.
