THE A9 has fully reopened following an earlier fuel tanker crash.

Traffic Scotland made the announcement at 3.43pm, three hours after the one-vehicle crash shut both lanes of the southbound carriageway.

Shortly after the collision, Traffic Scotland had advised people to use alternative routes, warning that the road could be shut "for some time".

But it is now fully open and traffic was moving at the time of writing.

The tanker was empty at the time of the crash, and police said there were no injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

There were heavy snow showers in the area around the time of the collision.
