There are only two weeks left to nominate an inspirational young person for Amelia's Young Highlander Awards (YHA).

The event was set up three years ago by Amelia's mother Kelly Macrae to honour her daughters ongoing fight with global development delay, autism and epilepsy.

She was born at 32 weeks weighing only 3lb, but is now eight and continuing to survive.

The awards are a chance for other inspirational young people to be recognised in categories such as child of courage award and the keep on swimming award.

The event on August 26 will take place at the Drumossie Hotel, raising money for NHS Play Specialists and Drummond School.

Mrs Macrae said: “With just two weeks to go, we want to make sure that all deserving young Highlanders are nominated.

"There are so many inspiring young people in the Highlands who are going through or have overcome often unimaginable challenges in their lives, we want to recognise them and celebrate their achievements.

"Once again, I would like to thank every business that has supported Amelia’s Young Highlander Awards, we simply could not do it without their support and, after a two year break, we are all set for a great night at the Drumossie Hotel on August 26.”

The nominee must be under 16 and the nomination must be made by a person over 18 and that person must have the consent of the family.
