Two new junctions on Barn Church Road leading to the north side of Culloden Academy and the Chapelton housing development at Balloch Farm have been approved

Local councillor Andrew Jarvie, however, hit out at the scheme, caling it “back to front” as he said it should have been progressed in tandem with the planned development of Culloden Academy, though he also agreed that any changes at this stage could lead to delays to that project.

He also warned the people of Balloch were keen for the village to remain identifiable as such and not to be engulfed by surrounding developments.

Balloch Community Council had objected to plans, highlighting concerns about road safety on Barn Church Road, including the need for the speed limit to be reduced from 40mph to 30mph and raising concerns in relation to where anticipated parking and buildings will be located for the planned additional accommodation at Culloden Academy.
