Two new Covid-19 coronavirus cases detected in NHS Highland area

ANOTHER two cases of Covid-19 were reported across NHS Highland in the past day.
The region’s overall number of confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic rose from 5119 to 5121 when the Scottish Government released the latest daily figures on Wednesday.
There were 204 new positive tests for Covid-19 across Scotland in the past day – or 0.9 per cent of all tests conducted over that period.
Seventy-five people were receiving hospital treatment for the virus across Scotland last night. This was a fall of six from Tuesday’s update.
Of those, a dozen were in intensive care, which was up by one.
Sadly, one more person has died having tested positive for the virus in the past 28 days.
Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were again no new positive tests in either NHS Shetland, NHS Orkney or NHS Eileanan Siar.
Twenty-six new infections were recorded across NHS Grampian – taking its total to 14,935.
And a dozen fresh cases were reported in NHS Tayside – for a rolling tally of 14,670.
There have now been 225,683 positive tests for the virus across Scotland since the pandemic began.
Almost 2.79 million people in Scotland have now received their first coronavirus vaccination jag, while more than 1.14 million have had their second.
