TWO more cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across NHS Highland.

The region’s cumulative number of infections increased from 5117 to 5119 when Tuesday’s daily update was published at 2pm.

There were 133 newly-confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Scotland in the past day – equivalent to one per cent of all tests carried out during the past 24 hours.

Eighty-one people were receiving hospital treatment for the virus in Scotland last night – down a dozen from Monday’s update.

Of those, 11 were in intensive care – down one.

Sadly one more person has died after testing positive for the virus in the previous 28 days.

Elsewhere in Scotland, there were once again no new cases in NHS Shetland, NHS Orkney or NHS Eileanan Siar.

Thirteen positive tests were recorded across NHS Grampian over the past 24 hours, taking its cumulative tally to 14,909.

And there were eight further cases in NHS Tayside, for a running total of 14,658.

There have now been 225,479 positive tests for Covid-19 across Scotland since the beginning of the pandemic.

Some 2.78 million people have now had their first Covid vaccination injection, while more than 1.1 million have received their second jag.
