UPDATE: Diversions are now in place as four vehicle collision leaves the A9 closed in both directions north of Kingussie, according to Traffic Scotland
All lanes are closed on the A9 just north of Kingussie following what Traffic Scotland said was a four vehicle crash that was reported at 12.19 today.
Diversions are now in place with to use the B9152. For the northbound diversion, motorists are advised to take the offslip onto the A86 then turn right onto the A86 and continue onto the B9152 at the A86/B9152 Junction.
Follow the road until the A95 junction, turn left onto the A95 and follow the road until the A9 junction at Granish.
For south bound traffic, vehicles should turn left onto the A95 and follow the road until the B9152 junction at that point they should turn right onto the B9152 and follow the road until the A9 junction – the total distance for both diversion is 13 miles.
The incident happened near Lynchat with motorists being advised to use caution on approach and allow extra time for their journey given the slowing traffic and the diversion in place.
Earlier, Traffic Scotland said: “Reports of a four vehicle collision on the A9 just North of Kingussie. It looks like it's affecting both directions. Police are currently en-route. Traffic is beginning to look slow so please take care on approach.”
