Traffic congestion is easing after a three-vehicle collision briefly closed the A96 near Inverness Retail Park.

Police Scotland were alerted to the accident at around 3pm, with no ambulance required to attend.

The collision caused heavy tailbacks back towards Barn Church Road and the A9, with just one lane reopening for a spell, but by 4.40 pm Traffic Scotland said the congestion was starting to ease.

A Police spokeswoman said: "Three vehicles were involved in a collision near the Tesco supermarket at Eastfield Way.

"Police were called but found Highland Council had already enacted a clear-up. There was no requirement for an ambulance to attend."
