Eastgate Shopping Centre is one of 200 shopping centres across the UK taking part in the One Great Day initiative.

It is a series of family and community charity events being held throughout June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and other local children’s health charities.

One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised more than £500,000 for 113 children’s charities across the UK.

The Inverness shopping centre will be raising funds for CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association across Scotland) as well as Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Some local musicians will come together this Saturday to promote the initiative.

A spokeswoman for the shopping centre said: "Some amazingly talented local musicians will be performing at this free event in the Eastgate food court area between 11am and 2pm. Come along and enjoy some home-grown talent but don’t forget to put a donation in the bucket to help CHAS and Great Ormond Street continue their good work in children’s health care."

The following Saturday will see the shopping centre host its One Great Day of Fun, Frolics and Sporting Challenges.

It will include a bid to clock up the 568 miles from Inverness to London on a static bike. Organisers hope the mission will be completed between 9am and 6pm.

The spokeswoman added: "We need teams and individuals to help us. Limited places are still available. For further details contact marketing@eastgate-centre.co.uk."

The family fun day runs from 11am-4pm, with activities in the food court area including free face painting, free fun photo booth and a toy testing workshop.
