IT just isn’t summer in the Highlands without the Black Isle Show!

And after two years without the north’s premier agricultural and family event, this August it is well and truly Show time!

Taking place on Thursday, August 4, with the preview evening on Wednesday, August 3, visitors can look forward to a host of livestock, horse and fur competitions, showjumping, sheep shearing, the vintage tractor display, the ever-popular charity tractor push and much more. Gardeners and growers will showcase their stunning flower displays, and fruit and vegetable produce at the Flower Show with a host of trophies and prizes to be won, and dog owners can put their pooch forward in the Dog Show – with 18 classes in all, there is a category for every furry chum.

But there is more to the Black Isle Show than displays of farming, crofting and equestrian excellence.

The Main Ring attraction this year sees the return of Monster Trucks!

Watch in awe as Big Pete and Grim Reaper fly through the air before crashing and smashing onto vehicles that get in their way.

There will also be some great music over the Wednesday and Thursday with performances by the Black Isle Peas, Wee James and also Dancing with Sharks.

And no visit to the Black Isle Show would be complete without enjoying the best food, drink and crafts from the Highlands and beyond. The Black Isle Show is a must-visit for families and farmers right across the Highlands and beyond with competitions, attractions, activities and events for everyone!

Here’s what’s happening...

At its heart, the Black Isle Show is the premier agricultural event in the north of Scotland where farmers, crofters and equestrians can showcase their animals and their skills.

On the Wednesday evening, enjoy the full ring experience with showjumping, the charity tractor push and the Monster Trucks with Big Pete and Grim Reaper.

There is also a large number of vintage tractors and implements to marvel at and compare to the giant tractors for sale on other stands throughout the Show.

Other attractions include sheep shearing, trade stands, the funfair and the flower show.

Gates open at 4pm with an entry fee of only £8 and children under 12 go free.

Visit the trade stands, Village Square, and Food and Craft Hall where local craftsmen and women will have a wide range of products and delicious food and drink.

There is also the Marquee Bar, with music all evening from groups including the Black Isle Peas and Wee James. Black Isle Farmers’ Society president, Freida McKenzie, was delighted the Show has returned: “It is fantastic to be back. We can’t wait to welcome you all to the 183rd Black Isle Show on the 3rd and 4th of August.

“We have taken the opportunity of the two-year break to improve the Show experience for our visitors. Come along and welcome back the Show and meet all of the old friends that you haven’t seen for a long time.” The headline sponsors of the Black Isle Show this year is NFU Mutual Agencies, Dingwall, Thurso, Elgin & Inverness. NFU Mutual is the UK’s leading rural insurer.
