Tomnahurich Swing Bridge is set to close for two weeks for essential road maintenance.

The works involve the full reconstruction of the central part of the carriageway surfacing.

These works are to begin at 5.30pm on Monday, June 3 for two weeks and the bridge will reopen at 8.30am on Saturday 15 June.

Due to the nature of the works the Tomnahurich Swing Bridge will be closed to all road users for 24 hours a day for the duration of the works. During the day the bridge will swing to allow canal users to pass.

Throughout the two week period a short diversion will be in place to redirect traffic to the adjacent new Torvean Swing Bridge.

Consultation has taken place with the local community.

Local access to businesses and residents adjacent to Tomnahurich Swing Bridge will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These works are vital for the future operation of the bridge. The short diversion should help to minimise disruption. “
