INDEPENDENT businesswomen who went to school together on the Black Isle are toasting the success of a new joint venture – on a logo.

Laura Thompson took over The Slaughterhouse in Cromarty back in the summer and has been a familiar, cheerful face there for coffee addicts finding their way to her for a daily caffeine fix.

Keen to put her own stamp on the business – quite literally – she set about designing a logo that can now be seen on her takeway brews.

She was delighted to stumble across a former Fortrose Academy schoolmate, Amy McIlhenny, who is a freelance graphic artist.

Ms Thompson told her social media followers: "I am beyond excited to announce and finally show you all my beautiful new logo!

"I’ve been itching to get a logo made for Slaughterhouse Coffee, an opportunity to really put my stamp on the business and make it feel my own. Being the perfectionist that I am, it’s taken some time but it has been worth it and I am oh so pleased with it!"

She paid tribute to Ms McIlhenny "who was truly fantastic in helping me figure out what I wanted when designing a logo". She said: "Simple but effective, a lot like the concept at Slaughterhouse Coffee. And also for being so patient when each addition to the logo unfolded. We actually went to Fortrose Academy together and I stumbled upon her graphic design business at just the right time - so I was delighted to support another independent business with connections to the Black Isle. So thank you, Amy."

She is now pondering what else to put her logo on – with followers suggesting everything from T-shirts to "everything".
