A ROAD in Inverness is to be closed for almost three weeks while street lighting works are carried out.

Merlewood Road will be closed from 8am on Monday until 6pm on Friday, July 9.

A Highland Council spokesman said: "In the interests of public safety during street lighting column and cable installation works, there will be a temporary road closure on Merlewood Road, Inverness, from its junction with Drummond Road and its junction with Drummond Crescent.

They continued: "Access will be maintained for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles requiring access to premises which are located in, or only accessible from, the closed section of road.

"Alternatives routes will be available for all other traffic."
