THREE Highland councillors are among thousands who have made their way to London this week to pay respects to Queen Elizabeth.

Conservative members Andrew Sinclair and Andrew Jarvie were also in Edinburgh to see the late Queen’s coffin at St Giles Cathedral too.

The members for Inverness South and Wick and East Caithness respectively then moved on to London. They expect to be joined by Councillor Struan Mackie (Thurso and Northwest Caithness) today.

Councillor Jarvie, who represented Inverness South before this year’s council elections, said it was the right thing to do.

“It is important to me to give just a few days out of my life for someone who gave every day of hers in the service of our country”, he said.

“She projected the very best of Britain across the world and represented so many good causes. Her dignified touch to some of the most challenging situations has really come to define her and is something which I think we all will sorely miss.”
