Fourteen new Covid-19 coronavirus cases detected across NHS Highland region, Scottish Government confirms

Another 14 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed across the NHS Highland region in the past 24 hours.

The area's cumulative number of infections rose from 1626 to 1640 when the latest daily update was published at 2pm.

There were 1064 new positive tests for Covid-19 across Scotland in the past day.

A total of 994 people were receiving treatment for the virus in hospital yesterday – down 5 on the previous day.

Of those, some 52 were in intensive care, a decrease of one.

And sadly 39 further people have died after being diagnosed with the virus.

Elsewhere NHS Grampian saw its cumulative total rise to 5583 after 79 new positive tests were recorded.

Scotland has now reported 105,370 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
