A ROSS-SHIRE man who had just stolen soft drinks from an Inverness shop offered some to two police officers.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that the theft of a rucksack and two bottles of Lucozade had been reported by staff of WH Smith in High Street on July 18.

The constables had a description and John Mackay of The Square, Strathpeffer, made the offer when he was stopped and challenged.

The 46-year-old admitted the theft and two other offences.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson was told that on May 2, Mackay was arrested in Cairn Court, Kinmylies, Inverness after he was heard to be shouting threats at occupants of a house in the area.

He admitted abusive behaviour.

He also pleaded guilty to a breach of his bail curfew when he was found in Cairn Court on July 29 at 3am – seven days after he had been granted bail at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Mackay was fined a total of £500.
