A thief who committed several acts of dishonesty in Nairn has been jailed for 10 months.

John MacPhee (30), of Kennedy Court, Fort William, appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted entering an unlocked car in Whitelaw Crescent, Nairn, and stealing money, a bank card and sunglasses on March 12.

He also admitted using the bank card in the Scotmid store in the town’s Lochloy Road to purchase £48 worth of alcohol and lottery cards on the following day.

MacPhee was taken into custody at the weekend after breaching a bail condition not to enter Nairn.

He was jailed for six months for the Nairn offences plus four months for two breaches of bail curfew by not being at home when police checked.
