There’s a welcome in the Loch Ness hillsides with an entertainment packed Highland Gathering
A splendid afternoon out with family entertainment is in store on a farming estate in the hills above Loch Ness this weekend - and it’s free to get in!
Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust has organised a Highland Gathering on Corriegarth Estate, Gorthleck, this Saturday July 20 from noon till 4pm.
The estate is a glorious setting for a Highland Games and perfect for listening to the bagpipes and watching Highland dancing.
The games are open to all no matter where you are from, and there is a long list of attractions.
They include Inverness Royal Legion Pipe Band, Highland dancing, falconry displays, dog show, vintage vehicles, a generous raffle, face painting and market stalls.
Welly whanging and races for all the family will be held and there is a more seriously contested hill race. A bouncy castle and bungee run will keep the youngsters amused.
Food and drink will be available to keep everyone refreshed and there will be several market stalls including a willow weaving workshop where you might pick up a new skill.
Stratherrick & Foyers Comunity Trust’s stated aim is to help make the community “healthier and happier” by working closely with local people, and the Highland Gathering seems set to fit the bill.
