Highland food, Highland whisky, Highland gin, Highland beer and Highland music all in one place on one day - that is what the organisers say is the essence of The Gathering.

It got underway in its temporary home of Bught Park in Inverness because the Northern Meeting Park is not available and it appears to have been a roaring success.

The organisers were certainly happy with it saying online: “The Gathering Festival 2024, well that was a blast! The sun was roaring and you guys partied your hearts out.

“Thank you for coming along and creating another brilliant atmosphere. Huge thanks to all the amazing artists, performers, suppliers, traders and staff who all make our event so special- we really couldn’t do it without you.

“Now…..onto planning for 2025!”

Even as it was going on it was being hailed as a major success by one of the organisers, Dougie Brown, who said it was the best line-ups the event has yet seen.

That included headliners Skerryvore, Julie Foulis played earlier in the day as well as Croft No. 5, Torridon, Valtos and Train West.

Hundreds of people queued-up to access the event in what is clearly one of the highlights of the Inverness live music calendar.

Speaking to The Inverness Courier’s Shannon Marvell on the day Mr Brown said it has been “amazing” this year at the Bught Park but he looks forward to returning to the festival’s natural home of the Northern Meeting Park.

“It's amazing,” he said. “We have got exceptionally lucky with the weather, everyone is in great form, lots of families and lovely food being eaten and it is wonderful.

“We are here in Bught Park because the Northern Meeting Park is out of use this year so we will be back at what is kind of our home next year.

“The Gathering was kind of born out of that site and that location, it is nice to be here and it is working out really well but we are still really looking forward to getting back to our proper home next year.”
