Tesco staff were subjected to a violent tirade of abuse after a 42-year-old Inverness man entered their store.

Ariel Blaszczykowski, of Diriebught Court, assaulted and abused the retail workers in the Metro Tomnahurich Street outlet of the national chain on October 27 last year.

At Inverness Sheriff Court, he admitted the assault whereby he pushed one member of staff on the body, shouted, swore then struck foodstuffs and threw them on the ground.

Defence solicitor David Patterson told Sheriff Sara Matheson that his client was currently undergoing a 14-week alcohol treatment programme.

Sheriff Matheson deferred sentence until April 19 for it to be completed and ordered Blaszczykowski to be of good behaviour until then.
