Temperatures almost reached 30C today as the Highlands endures the ongoing heatwave – a reading of 29.2C was recorded in Drumnadrochit near Loch Ness

Temperatures almost reached 30C today as the Highlands endured the ongoing heatwave, it has been confirmed.

A Met Office spokeswoman said that, while there were no observation sites in Inverness itself, there were a number of readings recorded elsewhere in the Highlands.

She said the highest temperature so far in Drumnadrochit was 29.2C, in Aviemore it was 28.3C, in Lentran it was 28.1C, in Dalwhinnie it was 26C and at Tulloch Bridge it was 26C.
