Three Inverness teenagers are revving up their careers in the motor industry in an innovative new apprentice scheme.

Dicksons of Inverness has started the trio on its Apprentec programme - and they were selected on their work ethic, personality, drive and determination to succeed.

Archi Hay (16), and 17-year-olds Caitlin Nairn and Erin Conway will now go through training with the company, learning on the job.

The Apprentec scheme is an integral part of Dicksons’ growth plans as it seeks to embed the next generation of employees.

Aftersales director Linda MacPhee said: “Dicksons have ambition for growth and have multiple acquisition opportunities in our sights. The development of young people through Dicksons Apprentec programme will pave the way to our future success.

“Dicksons Apprentec programme covers all roles within our business, from technical to administrative roles.

“We have escaped tradition and aim to attract all ages of applicants who will benefit from a competitive salary while completing the appropriate qualifications with Dicksons approved and partnered training organisations.

“Our three most recent appointees have begun an exciting career - Archi as a technician, Caitlin as a service adviser and Erin as a vehicle administrator.”

Linda is an example of someone who has progressed through the ranks at Dicksons. Originally from Benbecula, she joined the motor trade aged 16 and in 2022 became aftersales director.

Dicksons completed a management buy-out last year, and currently employs more than 70 people.

It has a five-year forecast of staffing levels reaching 100 and turnover to double to £100 million.
